Soft Tissue Occupational Therapy (STOT) Perth, WA

Pain? Restricted movement? Tired? Underperforming? Stressed?

Soft Tissue Occupational Therapy treats soft tissue (muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments), focusing on the interrelationship between occupation and soft tissue function. When talking about “occupation” we are talking about everything a person wants and needs to do to carry out their everyday life.

Soft tissue dysfunction may be a result of major incidents or trauma that have occurred throughout life, such as sports injury or motor vehicle accident. They may also be a result of more subtle influences which have accumulated over time, such as emotional stress, repetitive overuse injuries, challenging workplace environments, poor posture or movement patterns.

Dry Needling Treatment

Dry Needling is a treatment technique utilising a sterile, single-use, fine filament needle. The needle is inserted into a tight, painful muscle and can assist with increasing blood flow thus stimulating healing, decreasing pain and improving function.

“The pain had been so persistent and painful I was very seriously considering giving up work, and as a keen jogger it meant I hadn’t been able to run for about 3 months. .. The improvement was so good that 2 weeks after the last visit I was able to run in the 12 kilometre long City to Surf Fun Run. Since then Emily has done some other “Dry Needling” work on my legs and feet with some remarkable results. I think her work is amazing and if I hadn’t had the treatments I think things would have been very different for me. There is no question it has literally been life changing. “
